Getting to know all kinds of Wool (WHILE CREATING A FELTED PROJECT!)
This workshop will consist of a twenty minute overview of the processes and materials I use in my studio, Reclaimed Wool, and provides an introduction to the materials contained in my studio work, including my ECo-Creative kits. Plenty of actual samples will be on hand for viewing and handling, and to help illuminate answers to questions. During the remainder of the workshop, participants will create a useful and delightful item from a kit of their choosing: pincushions, holiday ornaments, a set of flower pins (great for stocking stuffers), or even a floppy dot trivet. Most kits come together simply and quickly. Some kits employ needle felting, others do not. All kits use post-consumer textiles, and employ hand sewing and perhaps some embroidery. Each kit is complete and comes with instructions, all materials, pre-cut parts, threads and any needles necessary to complete the kit. PURCHASE OF KIT REQUIRED ($12 - $20)

ADRIENNE SLOANE MARCH 15/16 2012 9 TO 4PM COST $140

KNIT ANYTHING: NOT CLOTHING
Develop a personal language of forms by experimenting with knitting fundamentals to uncover the enormous possibilities of a three dimensional knit. By manipulating stitches and solving knitting geometry, participants will learn to 'think knit'. The class will explore the use of non-traditional materials and cover a range of techniques to help create shape and stability when working in three dimensions. Your new knitting vocabulary can be applied to sculptural or wearable creations. This is a process-oriented workshop, with time devoted to making samples and experiments as you learn each technique or concept. Participants must be proficient in basic knitting techniques; knowledge of crochet is also helpful.

KERR GRABOWSKI JUNE 14/15 2012, 9 TO 4PM COST $ 150

Deconstructed Screen Printing
Join us in a two day whirlwind tour of Deconstructed Screen Printing (and more). Explore a different facet of screenprinting; the unpredictable, the intuitive, the “happy accident”. Using fiber reactive dyes on fabric and/or paper, Deconstructed Screen Printing, Polychromatic Screen Printing and basic stencils techniques, experiment with the silkscreen as a painting and monoprinting tool to create fabrics of depth, texture and personal imagery. The resulting fabric may be used as an end in itself or a point of departure for further embellishment.
No previous screenprinting experience necessary--great for quilters, printmakers, surface designers, book artists. You will go home with a series of prints on fabric and/or paper.

ELIZABETH BARTON SEPTEMBER 13/14 2012 ,9 TO 4 PM COST $165

Art Quilts: Working in a series
Do you want to improve your work as an art quilter? The best way to develop a coherent body of work is to work in a series. This workshop focuses on the development of at least 6 related designs for quilts. We will learn how one design can lead to another and another...and another.
We will also discover how to design 6 ideas at once and make several pieces at the same time. The work of well known quiltmakers will be examined to help us come up with lots of good ideas.
Important guidelines associated with good design and critiquing will be developed and clarified with many examples. This will be a process oriented class.
